Ask me anything

Sketches and thought processes for my in progress Sci-Fi graphic novel, Intrepid. Also, some random goofiness.

Bringing my portfolio to comic con…

… was a VERY good decision.  Probably the best I’ve ever made.

I was only expecting to get a few pointers from people in the industry to point me in the right direction.  Instead I ended up with a colorist audition with Ethan VanSchiver of DC comics.

I don’t know if it’ll go anywhere, but still.  It was highly unexpected and more then a little inspiring.

Intrepid Issue 1 - Page 3

Meet Rahst. He’s a nice guy.

I’ve been looking forward to doing this page, so I decided to finish it up before my upcoming busy weekend. More anthro art coming soon, I promise.

Intrepid Issue 1 - Page 2

Aredon has become rather distraught as of late, feeling as if he and his soldiers have become useless. Even the mightiest of heroes can become expendable.

I wonder who the shadowy figure could be…

Intrepid Issue 1 - Page 1

I can’t believe I forgot to post this here.  Finished page 1.

The main storyline takes place 6 years after the events of my free comic book day comic.

Launch of the Intrepid Website and Azure Wheel Wiki!

And with the launch of the Intrepid Comic comes two websites related to the comic.

IntrepidComic.us
The OFFICIAL website for the Intrepid comic.

The Azure Wheel Wiki
You know that super secret project I’ve been mentioning for the past few months.  Well, it’s a wiki.  I mostly created it as a reference for myself because it contains information about the galaxy and different characters.  The wiki is faaaaar from being finished, but it’s far enough along that the public can come in and take a peek.

The official launch of the Intrepid project begins now!
This is an ongoing project, the main storyline encompassing at least 20 issues. I will try to finish AT LEAST a page a week.

This comic is 15 years of blood sweat and tears finally coming together so for you furries out there that watch me, don’t dismiss the comic just because the main characters are not anthros. There will be many different alien species (some of them very anthro looking) to please you. Just give the comic a chance, that’s all I ask.

The launch of the Intrepid Website and the unveiling of my Super Secret project are coming very shortly.

Disclaimer
The Intrepid Series contains themes of war, violence, gang activity, death, PG-13 rated nudity/sex, adult language, and moderate amounts of gore (Gore NOT Vore… there‘s a difference. Rest assured that this comic does not contain Vore!). All pages with extreme mature content will be placed under a mature filter, but you should be able to understand the story without reading the few select pages. If you still have issues with any of these themes, then this is not the comic series for you. Instead of flaming, please hit the back button. The pageview is still appreciated.

Intrepid - 3 Part Promo Poster Set

A three part poster set featuring the three main heroes of Intrepid. These posters are mostly meant to be promotional items to be hung up in my local comic book stores, used online, etc…

Everything seen in these posters from colors to background imagery are symbolic of things from the story, characters, and/or the Azure Wheel Galaxy as a whole.

On the left is Shae, the team’s tech expert and the comic’s resident space geek. His witty one-liners and laid back personality have made him a favorite among pretty much all of my beta readers. I can’t wait to unleash his full force geek-ness upon the internetz!

In the center is Aredon, the man whom all the events of the story center around. He is the leader of the Imperial Suns, a small team of elite soldiers under direct command of the Ultimarian Emperor. His friendship with Emperor Himnare has put him in a position of leadership. While he carries the title of ‘General’, he is only General in name alone for he is a soldier at heart and unwilling to be thrown into the normal duties expected of a general. His actions will help determine the fate of his beloved Empire.

On the right is Liah, a high-ranking member of the Blackmane order, a legion of beastmasters who have the ability to communicate with animals. While she isn’t an ‘official’ member of the Imperial Navy, she serves for the Imperial Suns because people with abilities like hers are in high demand. She has a calm, kind demeanor that makes her seem ‘otherworldly’.

So - you stated, that the Ancients (namely us, humans, homo sapiens) were completely extinct long time ago. However, the Ultimarians looks much like humans. Actually, they ARE humans. Are they what’s left of the Ancients, or merely a new human species that evolved later?

Ultimarians are pretty much humans 2.0.
They evolved from humans, but their bodies are built to be much more efficient then our own.

I wrote a brief article a while back about HOW their bodies are different then the bodies of humans - [link]

I have a good deal more information about them coming when I officially unveil my secret side project.

o_O

Cashmans opened its doors at 11:00.
I showed up at 11:20 to pick up Free Comic Book day comics for JF.
All issues of Intrepid Issue 0 that I gave them to give away for Free Comic Book Day were already gone. ALL of them.

Damn.

Note to self: Next year if I do another Free Comic Book day issue, bring more copies.
